WILL FRANK UNDERWOOD be rubbing shoulders with the notorious Russian protest group Pussy Riot on House of Cards?
Sources associated with the Kevin Spacey drama have claimed that Pussy Riot could be making a cameo in the next season the show, which is currently filming in Baltimore.
A local newspaper reported that two of the members of the group, Nadeszhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokinha, were on the show’s set last week.
Back in May, the Washington Post reported that the pair had met with House of Cards staff in New York.
Alyokhina said at the time:
It’s important for us to meet people who are doing political cinema in the US because in Russia, it doesn’t exist, and we want to know how it happens.
Now it seems this meeting has lead to a cameo of some shape or form.
Members of Pussy Riot were arrested in February of 2012 for performing an anti-Putin ‘punk prayer’ at a church in Moscow, and sentenced to two years in prison.
Their imprisonment was condemned all over the world, with many groups holding ‘Free Pussy Riot’ protests in solidarity.
The Netflix show previously sought permission to film scenes at the United Nations Security Council in New York – which Russia refused as they wanted to keep the room available for any ‘international crises’ that may arise during filming.
